THE MOUNTAIN LOSS. HOW THE PLANE CONDITIONED ITALIAN DEVELOPMENT

Orography determines the fate of a community? It seems yes, at least in Italy, where the altitude still makes the difference. To speak are in numbers: from 1951 to today, the mountain was a victim of depopulation and abandonment.

If the Italian population has grown about 12 million people in the last 60 years, the mountain has lost about 900,000. All growth, in practice, was concentrated on plain (8.8 million residents) and hill (about 4 million).

A bleeding of which little, little talk was spoken. Literature, which is also abundant in North-South divisions, has studied little about the relationship between the plain and the mountain. Here is the sense of this research, all dedicated to the so-called "mountain issue".

The document, "young working population in flesh," was produced as part of the regional observatory on the mountain coop Cramars, sheds light on the dynamics of the resident population at the municipal level (28 municipalities) with reference to the degradation of the last 60 years. Particular attention is paid to the decade 2001/2011, the collapse of the youth population, now one-tenth of the total, and the growth of the elderly population, which now exceeds 26% of the total. The paper also examines the movements of Carnia assumption made ??in the crisis years (2008/2013), highlighting the collapse of the age group 15/19 years and the substantial stability of classes 20/34 years old and female of the same work. These aspects of the labor market while keeping within a framework of crisis that ends up affecting negatively on the total number of movements of employment.

For several months the Cramars is considering setting up a " permanent observatory on the upland areas of the FVG " , a place - no place, where people they know, live and study the mountain , can meet , make suggestions, new interpretations and directions for the future . The working group that we imagine is not political , but facing the mountain as a study of a fragile body but a thousand potential, between preservation and innovation of the mountain that we would like.
The issues that we would have thought to date are:

The mountain policies implicit and explicit : the Mountain Project to date: lights and shadows on the end of a cycle ;
Economy and work (such as leading economies , such as successful examples , such as places to promote , etc ...) ;
What does it mean to live in the mountains (the population of the mountain, the services to the population, the hardships and weaknesses of the demographic structure , etc. ..) ;
The infrastructure of the mountain ( not only the Internet but also roads , public transport , etc ...) ;
The good practices 2014/2020 for the future of the mountain ( the new EU programming , the examples arising from good practice , not just a matter of Diffused Hotels , etc ...) ;
More ....
This is a rundown of topics that may be modified and / or expanded thanks to the contribution of all and that , perhaps, could be included in the first report on the mountain territory .
PS : on 15 and 16 November we organize a two-day working on the issues of the mountain with experts drawn from academia , civil society ( Italian and foreign ) involved in various ways on the mountain.
It will be a first time to start thinking for the occasion send you invitation with all details of the initiative .
Waiting for your kind reply , I send you a warm greeting
